Approach of science

Science an Religion are said to be the quest for truth. They say that both are trying to understand the underlying truth of the Universe, but through different approaches. But I have a reason to believe that science can never answer this quest, unless it changes itself to redefine the word "scientific".

Science is based on reason, logic. Science looks for consistency. But the nature of the universe is not such. The universe is least consistent. There are contradictions everywhere that exist simultaneously. Good and bad co-exist. The universe is full of paradoxes.

To give examples:
  • The only thing that is permanent is change.
  • Every rule has an exception.
  • In the scriptures it is said that the Brahman, which is the ultimate truth, is Anoraneeyan Mahatomaheeyan. That is, Larger than the largest, and smaller than the smallest, not at different points of time, but simultaneously.
Science has other drawbacks. It is confined, as of today, within 4 dimensions. It cannot comprehend anything beyond these, and every higher dimension is considered fiction by science. This is a great impediment in understanding the Truth which is beyond all these dimensions. Thus science has major limitations.

The only recourse available to mankind as of today, therefore, is religion, which is supposed to have shown the path to many in the past.

Ram:

What do u think of the world being symmetric in that case. There is a lot of cosistancy and a definite pattern to this world. Well i do not contest the fact that inconsistancy dosent exist but most things are symmetrical does that not get u thinking.

Somehow i am not conviced with religion being the only recourse. Dont you also think that most aacharams and shaastrams were all formed due to scientific reasons but conveyed in different comic ways.

well...i am not going to debate upon whether the word is symmetrical or not. I don't know much about it.

Our aacharams may have a sound reason behind them. They may be scientific. But, I did not mean all that by science. For instance, astrology is a science, that is not given the status of a science. I am talking about that science which needs a lab to experiment and verify. In fact, religion is also a science. But it is not thought to be so.
